Welcome to Abundant Acres!
Abundant Acres farm, formerly Kidding Around Farm, is the home of Ann and Todd Sheerman.
Ann and Todd have been farming in Maine for 10 years. They began in Bradford, with a double-wide trailer as home and a single wide trailer for the barn. In 2007, they moved the farm to their current location, 2901 Edinburg Road,
Argyle Township. The move allowed them to triple the size of the garden, from 50x50 feet to between a quarter and half an acre. It also gave them a "real" barn, and expanded housing for the chickens and goats.
Abundant Acres uses a non-chemical, all natural approach to farming. They are a diversified small family farm, with animals, vegetables, herbs, seedlings and eggs among their products.
They have recently added a small greenhouse and in 2010 they began greenhouse sales from the farm.
What's New in 2011 at Abundant Acres!
The farm recently added to the goat herd; there are new kids in the barn and more on the way! Keeping them company is "Mrs. Murphy," a Jersey cow and a new herd of rabbits. The chicken flock is anxiously waiting for spring thaw, as they much prefer dirt to a shoveled, snowy, chicken yard. They know spring is coming though... egg production is beginning to increase.
Where to find us!
Abundant Acres products are available at the farm (look for the "open" flag on the greenhouse or call ahead) and at Brewer Farmers Market (Thursday and Saturday mornings) and Hermon Farmers Market (Thursday afternoons) under the Stone Soup Collaborative banner and at the Downtown Bangor Artisan Market, in the Dutch Hex Sign booth. The Dutch hex signs are painted by Jj Starwalker, from collaborating farm Hearthfire Hill.
